Top10 Manila Ramen ranking
As a Japanese ramen consultant in Manila, I made Ramen ranking in Manila as of 2014 Jan. (For 2015 version, check here.)I can easily choose top rank ramen restaurants. That is “Daisho, Santouka, Mitsuyado Sei-Men, Ramen Ron, Yushoken, Hanamaruken”. These 7 ramen restaurants are the top grade. Next group is “Kichitora, Ikkoryu”. And last one ramen restaurant is,,, difficult to choose. Tamagoya offers usual ramen but it’s cheep. Miso-ten offers usual miso-ramen. Tampopo offers tonkatsu with ramen. Sekitori offers big ramen. Nomama ramen is Philippine based original ramen. There are lots of ramen restaurants, but difficult to choose the last,,, and I chose Go-en. It is not Japanese based ramen restaurant but it’s doing well compared to others. I appreciate that effort. So, these are the top 10 Manila ramen restaurant.
Top 7 ranking might differ depending on your preference. If you like tonkotsu, then “Yushoken, Nagi”. If you like Miso, then “Daisho”. If you like shio (salt), then “Santouka”. If you like Tsuke-men, then “Mitsuyado Sei-Men”. And also place of the ramen restaurant affects ranking.
Nagi! It’s newly opened and there are lots of pepole. It’s in stylish area, Fort Bonifacio SM AURA. Tonkotsu base broth is really Japanese tonkotsu taste. When you eat 50%, you’d better mix Fire Sauce and change the taste. You can change the firmness of ramen, toppings based on your preference.
No.2 Daisho
Very delicious!! The best Miso Ramen in Manila. Ramen Daisho is located along Shaw Blvd. Although it’s not in big mall, 1-2km from the center of Ortigas, lots of people go there to eat deliciou ramen. Not only ramen, but also others, such as gyoza, are delicious.
We could say that Mitsuydo Sei-Men started the ramen boom in Manila. It is located along Jupiter Street in Makati. Mitsuyado Sei-Men is especially famous for Tsukemen. You should try Cheese Sauce Tsukemen. It was my first time to eat tsukemen with cheese, but it was delicious.
No.4 Santouka
Santouka is well known in Japan. You can try almost the same taste of Japanese Santouka in Manila. The best ramen you should try is “Shio Ramen”. I’m quite sure that it’s the best Shio Ramen in Manila. Now we have Santouka in Glorietta4, Mall of Asia, and Greenhills.
Yushoken is very very delicious!! When I first tryed it, I was surprised that I could eat this kind of delicious ramen in Manila. It’s located in Alabang,,, a bit far from center of Manila, that’s why I cannot eat so often. Because of it, Yushoken’s ranking is No.5. If I am living in Alabang, of course Yushoken is the top.
No.6 Hanamaruken
Hanamaruken opened last November in Trinoma, Quezon City. It is Tonkotsu-Shoyu based soup and very delicious. Not too heavy, not too light. Definitely, the best Ramen restaurant in Quezon City.
No.7 Ukokkei Ramen Ron
Ramen Ron was well known as No.1 ramen restaurant in Manila until 2012. But from end of 2012, lots of famous ramen restaurants opened in Manila. Because of it, ranking is now No.7. But Ron is still good and the taste of it won’t let me forget. Ron is located along Pasay road and always crowded. There is also branch in Mckinley.
Ikkoryu is tonkotsu based ramen, but a little light tonkotsu. When I tryed “Yuzu Koshou Ramen”, I wondered how much they put Yuzu Koshou. I like Yuzu Koshou but it was a little bit spicy. Sometimes bone contains in its Chashuu so be careful. And boiled egg taste is so so. That’s why Ikkoryu is No.8, but Ikkoryu is aggressively increasing branches: Shangri-la Plaza, Rockwell PowerPlant Mall, SM Aura, Alabang Town Center.
Kichitora’s ramen is chiken based and it’s a bit white. If you like chicken based, you should try it. At Megamall in Ortigas, Glorietta5 in Makati, you can find Kichitora.
Until No.9, I can choose easily but from No.10 it was difficult. I put Go-en which is in Quezon city as No.10. Not so many people gather to this ramen restaurant. Maybe it’s because of place. But it offers good ramen. And I can feel that they are trying to do their best. That’s why I put it as No.10. If you are in near Quezon Ave. Station, you can have Japanese taste ramen, teishoku here.

We saw this site posted on Facebook. Thank you very much for writing this. Now we get good knowledge from someone who knows ramen from Japan.
Will keep this bookmarked so that any time we are at a certain area and we are looking for ramen, your list will be our guide. Thanks again!
Nomama ramen sucks big time… you will regret trying this one… I dont know why is that restaurant even mentioned here???
Only popular restos mentioned. What about the hole in the walls? Shinjuku isn’t even here. Meh
Probably because Shinjuku is mediocre at best, now that there’s actual competition. And I wouldn’t really call Shinjuku a hole-in-a-wall place, either.
I agree!
For a supposed ramen consultant, this list is terrible. Mitsuyado should not be in any top ten list. Their ramen is absolutely disgusting. Weak, watery ramen and limp noodles. And ikkoryu should be in the top 3. Definitely ranked higher than yushoken and Ukokkei. What a crap list.
LOL! Are you serious? Ikkoryu?! WAHAHAHA! Yushoken is 10000x better than Ikkoryu!
Very disrespectful staff no fork and spoon very rude and chopsticks not clean
Wow you must be a complete idiot not to know how to use chopsticks. If you can type your response that means you have hands, and if you have hands you have no excuse not to be able to know. Secondly if you really insist on having a spoon and fork with your ramen and they actually give it to you, then most likely you’re not in a Ramen Shop worth going to.
try ramen kurosa at bf homes paranaque along aguirre st, their rAmen is also the best
@FRANZ
“And ikkoryu should be in the top 3. Definitely ranked higher than yushoken and Ukokkei.”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That’s your opinion =)
that’s the way it is. if you can’t live with it, eat elsewhere. or bring your own fork and spoon.
i know!
probably because this isn’t your site?
anyway you can post the price range of each resto? it would be really helpful to know how much each would cost or maybe you can comment on which is the most affordable and at the same time the best-tasting ramen. thanks a lot!
All these ramen houses here in Manila are in it to make money. No sense making a hole in a wall restaurant if you know your product will sell well. This will only limit the income you take in.
What about kanzhu?
Ikkoryu does not have a branch in Megamall. It’s in Shang. Opening soon in High Street.
Try Tamagoya. They have the best ramen for me! They prepared their own noodles
huh? I think any decent ramen place SHOULD BE making their own noodles.
awful sentence construction. grammar police where are you?
Putting Ramen Yushoken at number 5 just because it’s far from your place? The credibility of this list became questionable after that one.
AGREE!!! :s
i like moshi koshi
List are subjective, but whatever. This list is terrible.
why don’t you try constructing a sentence in japanese?
why? because your favorite is’nt on the list?
ケゾン市にラーメン屋があるなんて知りませんでした、情報に感謝です。
“Tonkotsu base broth is really Japanese tonkotsu taste.”
Funny that your Number 1 ramen is Ramen Nagi here in Manila, but then the pork taste in their Tonkotsu broth is not really that strong. I thought, by being a Japanese, you would know this above everyone else.

Wow, people get really angry over ramen. This list is clearly based on this dude’s personal opinions (as are all lists) and he’s sharing just to share. There’s no need to be abusive or mad just because your opinion is different. But since this guy is Japanese and it looks like many of the haters are not, I’ll probably take this guys’ opinion over the angry crazies.
someone finally got it! *high five* kitty!
all this coming from someone one who thinks tampopo has the best ramen and tonkatsu in town……
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
At least I’m not Japanese.
YOU don’t have right to judge because you’re not a ramen fan, why are you here then?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Who is go-en Ramen braving the Manila ramen scene? Find out on Candid Cuisine http://candidcuisine.net/go-en-ramen-shoppe-quezon-city/
because i like to laugh at people like you who keep plugging their crappy food blog.
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!
If any of you think is a better Ramen critic, show us your top 10 ranking, and we will rate how good you are.
Anyone?
I am halfway finished with your list! Thank you for putting this together. I was in Nagi and sat next to 2 people who were going through your list.
I braved the traffic of Shaw Blvd to try Daisho and to me, it’s the best.
I liked Kitchitora in Mega Mall for variety. It’s chicken-based for a change since the other ones on your list use pork-base broth.
Nagi was quite good but the customization made me bungle into a blah Butao with normal broth and normal noodles. The next visit, I went for the Black King with extra heavy and extra hard noodles. The experience between the 1st and 2nd visit was like night and day.
Ukokkei was abit forgettable. I thought the soy sauce was too overpowering that I could taste it over the broth.
I think I’ll finish my ramen journey with Santuoka after Easter. Once again, thanks for putting this list together.
